An occupational injury for 1 year at on Korean Air-base

Abstract
Generally in Korea, there has been more occupational accidents than another industrialized countries. Until now, the survey for occupational injury has not been performed in Korean Air Force. This survey is to identify the incidence of occupational injuries at on airbase and to infer the size of job-related injuries in Korean Air Force. The occupational injury were monitored at on medical group in one Korean airbase, from Aug. 1998 to Jul. 1999. There were 59 injuries(injured persons) in one airbase during 1 year. 8 persons transferred to more equipped hospital. Most injured persons
were common soldiers, and then sergeant, military employee in order. The median age of injured persons was 22 years old, and the median work experience was 0.8 year. It took about 30 minutes(median) to arrive at the medical office from the time of injury. The occupational injury were most common in October monthly, Tuesday in date. Also the injury occurred common from 13 to 13:59, and from 11 to 11:59 in hour. The injury occurred most commonly by the collision with something and when repairing the machinery and when working with more than 4 coworkers. The most common injured part of the body were hands and feet, the pattern of injury were laceration and fracture.
